About me
Jakub T. Mościcki (“Kuba”) is the Head of Storage and Data Management Group in the CERN IT Department.
The Storage and Data Management Group designs, develops and operates Exabyte-scale disk- and tape storage systems to support data recording, archival and general storage needs of the LHC experiments and over 30 other experiments of CERN’s entire accelerator complex.
In addition, the group develops and operates data and software distribution services for the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid; cloud storage services for users of desktop and mobile devices and multiple operating systems; filesystems, object and block storage based on Ceph technology for on-premises cloud & computing platforms and infrastructure services in the CERN Data Centre.
Previously Jakub was involved in service management, development and operation of storage systems as well as scientific programming, distributed computing and workload management; and in the support of the ATLAS and LHCb experiments with the WLCG and EGEE Grids.
Jakub held project management and coordination roles in EU-funded projects for the European Open Science Cloud as well as in the international collaborations on application of CERN’s ICT technologies in Education, Bioinformatics, Medical and Telecom.
Jakub in a Polish national and holds a PhD in Computing from University of Amsterdam. He graduated from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland.
